Ballroom Dance Lesson ~ Take 2

On Friday, The One and I had our second dance lesson. With the holiday, we didn't have any time to practice in between the two lessons, and man could you tell! We had forgotten the majority of what we had learned and spent half the lesson reviewing the two steps we had learned last week. Then we added one more during the second half of the lesson. The new move is a turn, and was much harder to catch onto than the first two!

The second lesson felt more disjointed than the first one. It felt like we were having a harder time moving together and learning the new step. Surprisingly, I'm not ending up frustrated like I expected to. I am really liking the instructor, Tony. He seems to be doing a great job of giving us just the right amount of material at once so that I can fully digest it before we move on to the next part. I may not feel like I completely have the move down, or get every detail of how to do it, but I feel like I have it down enough that I can remember the basic steps.

While we were at the lesson, Tony asked us if he had picked out a wedding song. Of course we haven't! Until he asked, we hadn't even given it any thought. I suppose I've been waiting to see how we feel about this whole ballroom dancing thing before we picked something. If we end up liking it enough to continue with our lessons, then we will pick a song and learn a dance to do at our wedding. However, if we end up deciding not to continue with the lessons, I really can't see us bothering with picking a song and doing a dance. Because honestly, does anyone really want to watch us stumble our way around the dance floor for 5 minutes? I think not. Instead, we'll just spend the time boogieing down with our guests to some AC/DC, some Buckcherry, and some Queen. Because you just can't have a party without playing "You Shook Me All Night Long," "Crazy Bitch," and "Fat Bottomed Girls"!!

The One and I have been able to practice a little since Friday, and our next lesson is tomorrow night, so we'll see how it goes. Hopefully, it will go smoother than last time. If nothing else, hopefully we won't have to spend half of it reviewing. We also have practiced enough that we know where our problem areas are, so we can ask questions about how to fix them tomorrow.

What kind of ballroom dance are you learning?

Heather ~ ATM, we are learning the Rumba. I'm not sure what we'd end up doing for our wedding dance if we decide to do one.
